We Are Better Together

We Are Better Together

Together We Are Better

“And you must also love each other. That is the most important thing that you should do. Love holds all these good things completely together.” ‭Colossians‬ ‭3:14‬ ‭

I never envisioned myself being an artist or a writer for that matter. So when I met my husband who is very intelligent and knew more Bible stories than I ever did, I questioned our compatibility right from the start. I told myself , “I will never be what he will need me to be.” I was a free flowing creative spirit who hated to feel challenged or boxed in.  But God knows us better than we know ourselves and with every purpose He gives us, He provides the passion, the anointing, the grace and the wisdom to fulfill that particular assignment that is birth inside us.

Growing in my spiritual walk by reading devotionals each morning and teaching Sunday school, God began to give me a heart for people. I would find myself thinking and praying for people I knew nothing about but could feel their emotions from stories they told or through post on Facebook. As I was listening God used my heart to reach them, my words to touch them and my trials to help them.

While you may not be called to be a writer or artist, the Lord has given you a passion for what He has called you to do. He will equip you and cause all grace to abound toward you! I believe our passion is created in our hearts with prayer, it’s the one thing that keeps calling us. It won’t let us sleep until we do what He needs us to do. God enlarges our hearts and opens our eyes to see problems that He is going to use us to solve them.

It is a beautiful thing and it gives us a feeling that is indescribable when we dance with Him.

While you may not be called to be a writer or an artist trust that the Lord will give you the passion for what He has called you to do. You will know. Keep praying…

Father God thank you for loving me. Thank you for giving me the right words to say to your daughter who is reading these words. Only you know what she needs. I pray that you bless her. I pray that she hears your calling upon get life. It is not an easy task, but your grace won’t fail her. As for me, Lord I trust that you know what is best for my life. Shape me and mold me into the woman you would have me to be. Help my family financially, so I’m able to reach far more than I can imagine. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Little Things

Little Things

Depend on the Lord. Trust in him, and he will help you. He will make it as clear as day that you are right. Everyone will see that you are being fair. Trust in the Lord and wait quietly for his help. Don’t be angry when people make evil plans and succeed. Don’t become so angry and upset that you, too, want to do evil. The wicked will be destroyed, but those who call to the Lord for help will get the land he promised. Psalm 37:5-9

In the middle of storms and shipwrecks my faith in God feels distant and sadly even nonexistent.  These past 4 months…
I have cried out for God to save my dad as he fights to live just another day. While unexpectedly I am faced with saying goodbye to my sweet father in law face to face.

My brother is in prison because of irresponsible decisions, while my brother in law dies from a massive heart collision. We find out about his passing from a stranger in the same ICU room from our fathers passing happened. But wait it only gets better, we are not invited to our brothers funeral.  Fighting for our marriage and an indescribable message about cancer.

Life is not without sorrow, sin and sickness. This body of mine has attacked my peace with pain and heavy heartaches within.  Dreams go unanswered, the Bible becomes just another book and my world seems out of control as I take another look. Yes my faith is on life support and sweet sleep is rare. It is a chore to take care of myself, much less anyone else.  So when the walls of my faith are crumbling down, how do I find my way back when my fading out? I’m screaming His name, but does He really hear me?

I don’t share this with you to bum you out. I share because He showed me how.

As I write this I’m reminded by a sweet text from my best friend, in the back of a picture she sends…  “And above all, watch with glittering eyes the whole world around you because the greatest secrets are always hidden in the most unlikely places. Those who don’t believe in magic will never find it.”

Forty-five minutes later my husband made his way home from his 12 hour shift, handing me a cup that says “Mermaids Material” with a bundle of beautiful colorful flowers.  It’s not always in the material things, but just look around, you’ll find His love in all the little things: a sweet poem on the bed side table, a cute coffee mug with “Mermaid Material”, a sweet kiss from your little birthday boy or beautiful flowers from the person you adore.  Jesus hasn’t forgotten about you, He really does exist. Record the kind deeds done around you and thank God for each one.

-Yes our body will betray us and our emotions will trip us up in this life, but we will be raised to newness.

Death gives way to life.  Righteousness replaces sin.  Joy overcomes sorrow.  Worship and praise mute self hate.  Healing puts pain to death.  Weakness submits to strength.  And Satan is cast into Hell forever–his influence deleted.

Lest we forget; spiritual dryness is never in season in eternity. So be hopeful, heaven is real for who all truly believe.

Pray for the Lover of your soul to water your dry heart with His compassionate presence in the mist of all your life storms. Ask the Holy Spirit to breathe life into you and look for the treasures He’s planted all around you.

I wonder what David felt…

I wonder what David felt…

Jesse showed seven of his sons to Samuel. But Samuel said to Jesse, “The Lord has not chosen any of these men, are these all the sons you have?” Jesse answered, “No, I have another son—my youngest, but he is out taking care of the sheep.” Samuel said, “Send for him. Bring him here. We won’t sit down to eat until he arrives.” Jesse sent someone to get his youngest son. This son was a good-looking, healthy young man. He was very handsome. The Lord said to Samuel, “Get up and anoint him. He is the one.” Samuel took the horn with the oil in it, and poured the special oil on Jesse’s youngest son in front of his brothers. The Spirit of the Lord came on David with great power from that day on. Then Samuel went back home to Ramab. 1 Samuel 16:10-13

I wonder what David felt when he walked into the room to see his brothers standing in front of the prophet, dressed to impress.

Then then the realization of not being invited hits David when he sees his dad standing next to his seven brothers.  Only later finding out the only reason he was invited to this important event was because prophet Samuel requested he be brought in from the fields. Otherwise his own dad didn’t even think of him during the most important event that their family was invited to.

The heartache of not being invited to your friend’s celebration, overlooked by your boss, or the disappointment of finding out the friend you hoped for chose someone else to go on a girl’s trip can leave you with painful feelings of unwanted, rejection and devalued. Feelings of not being worthy enough.

When we think on these negative feelings we only feed into anger, bitterness, and jealousy, which is actually a root of self-pride, causing pride to control our motives.

When we take ourselves out of the middle and look at it the way God sees it, which is putting the other person in the middle, our response can be quite different. This is rarely seen, but like most rare things it the most beautiful…

When our response is complete confident in Jesus to know He handpicked us, it can be a world changer. When we know that we have talents, gifts and ideas that God has given us, we don’t have to worry about what others think of us. When we understand that we’ve been chosen by God, it gives us a little more freedom to let people be people.

In this life people will purposely hurt us, people will forget about us, and at times people may not even know they hurt us.

I have learned that when people hurt us, it’s because they are being hurt or they’ve been betrayed by others that have hurt them.  Either way, when we stop looking at ourselves as victims and look deep down to why they are acting that away, we will begin to see what God sees.

Continue reading and we find out in 1 Samuel, David went back to the fields to continue to tend to his sheep. He killed, lions, bears and giants. Eventually moving to the castle to play the harp for King Saul it wasn’t until years later that he became king.  But what made this giant killer so special, he loved God and God could see it.

Knowing that you are handpicked by God and have a destiny to fulfill His glory can override any hurt someone gives us.

Don’t put your worth in people’s hands they will only drop it.  God knows how to truly love your heart and the only thing he wants is what lies in it, your soul. He will never force you to love Him.

 Prayer:

Father God, I thank You for Your wisdom and Your grace. Help me to focus more on my heart and the reaction that I give when I feel unwanted and devalued by others. Make my heart beautiful like You. Make my faith strong.  Make my love walk powerful. Transform me Lord until I look like Jesus on the inside and behave like Him on the outside. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

You Get to Choose

You Get to Choose

It’s so easy to worship the LORD when everything is going well, but the moment we start losing our faith, patience and hope we begin to feel the dirt hit our face and cause us to panic. I believe God allows us to go through sandstorms to show us where our hearts are.

“Remember how the Lord led you through the wilderness for these forty years, humbling you and testing you to prove your character, and to find out whether or not you would obey his commands.” Deuteronomy 8:2

Will you continue to allow Fear to hold your face in the dirt or will you get up and fight for what the Lord has told you to be true?

You get to choose…

May we all choose to trust Him no mater the outcome. May we see how God isn’t trying to break our hearts but only test it to reveal what is in our hearts and prepare us for what He sees just ahead.

Prayer:

Father God, I know the plans You have for me is to not harm me but to make me a mighty warrior for You.  Help me stand in confident, help me be bold and courageous, when I am weak you make me strong. I want to shine a light for people to see You.  When they feel that the world is too much, that they are reminded that You have overcome the world.  Open my eyes, guide me and show me what You need me to see. It’s with  Your grace I am able to walk me through these windy sands. In Your sweet and Glorious Name, Amen.
